Top Ten Books To Save If My House Was Abducted By Aliens (Top Ten Tuesday #1)

So I decided to start doing Top Ten Tuesdays! Top Ten Tuesday is a weekly event hosted by The Broke and the Bookish. This week's theme:
Top 10 books to save if my house was abducted by aliens.

1. Harry Potter Series
I am a hardcore potterhead, so there's no was that I'm not bringing this with me. Plus it was my mother's, so she could help me carry the series and run while aliens attack our house anyway.

2. Sherlock Holmes - Arthur Conan Doyle
Here I am referring to the Sherlock Holmes book that I hauled in my most recent IMM. Why? The book just looks divine and it deserves to be placed in this list.

3. The Fault in Our Stars - John Green
I absolutely loved John's writing style and the poetry in the book. Book I would re-read over and over again.

4. The Mortal Instruments - Cassandra Clare
I decided to mention this series as I've been loving City of Bones, even though I'm only almost halfway in. There must be a reason for all the praise, right?

5. The Infernal Devices - Cassandra Clare
Same goes for this one. Whenever The Mortal Instruments comes to play, The Infernal Devices will always be mentioned. Plus I just recently bought The Infernal Devices, so wouldn't want my money to go to waste. Yeah.

6. Hunger Games - Suzanne Collins
I chose this book not because I am head over heels for it, it's only because it has a few techniques on how to survive in the wilderness. If I had to abandon my house, I think this book would be quite helpful.

7. Divergent - Veronica Roth
This book has been sitting on my shelf for the longest time and this was the book that EVERYONE loved. I just had to include it in here.

8. H.O.N Series - P.C & Kristin Cast
Well.. It is the most complete series of books that I've ever bought with my own money. So far I have 7 books, and have been liking the plot so far. I love how the series isn't draggy.

9. Chinese Cinderella Series - Adeline Yen Mah
The first series that I've ever gotten in to. An amazing book and irresistibly hard to put down.

10. My iRiver
Of course, this was a given. Some of you may not know but an iRiver is an eReader. I have lots of books in my iRiver so this would be a pretty obvious choice.

That is all! It would be lovely of you guys to respond to this topic :)

In My Mailbox (#2)

In My Mailbox is hosted by The Story Siren. :)

First off, I am going to start off with an apology. I am sorry for not posting in a long long while, and that's mainly due to my frustration to blogger. Why? Because the picture system in blog posts is out of my usual context and it just wouldn't align properly. Looking into tutorials now and to say sorry to my followers, here's a book haul!

(Left to right, top to bottom.)
1. Under the Never Sky - Veronica Rossi
-Genre: YA Dystopian/SciFi
-Series: Under the Never Sky (Book #1)
I'm sure alot of you have heard about this book, and I gotten into the hype as well. I couldn't resist not picking this up when I saw it in my local bookstore.

2. Shatter Me - Tahereh Mafi
-Genre: YA Dystopian/SciFi
-Series: Shatter Me (Book #1)
Another well-talked about dystopian book in the book community. Can't wait to start on the book! The cover's all shiny and glorious, very tempting.

3. Wither - Lauren DeStefano
-Genre: YA Dystopian/SciFi
-Series: The Chemical Garden (Book #1)
The cover depicts an amazing blend of beauty and scifi. Honestly, that was one of the top reasons why I decided to get this. Let's hope it was worth my money though!

4. Clockwork Angel - Cassandra Clare
-Genre: YA Fantasy
-Series: The Infernal Devices (Book #1)
Since I am on the first book of the Mortal Instruments, I decided to get the Infernal Devices series to.. Complete my Cassanda Clare set. Loving City of Bones so far, so I doubt I would regret this purchase!

5. Clockwork Prince - Cassandra Clare
-Genre: YA Fantasy
-Series: The Infernal Devices (Book #2)
Second book into the Infernal Devices series. Since it was under Rp100.000 (About $9 USD) excluding my 20% off that I received from my bookstore, decided to get it along with clockwork angel.

6. One Day - David Nicholls
-Genre: Romance
-Series: -
I bought the book with Anne Hathaway on the cover and I absolutely loved all her movies, so decided to grab the book. Plus, you can never have too much romance novels. ;)

7. Lola and the Boy Next Door - Stephanie Perkins
-Genre: YA Romance/Contemporary
-Series: -
I absolutely adored Anna and the French Kiss, so this book was just another given book that I had to buy. I can't wait to start on this!

8. The Original Illustrated Sherlock Holmes: 37 Short Stories and a Complete Novel - Arthur Conan Doyle
-Genre: Mystery/Classics
-Series: -
Sherlock Holmes. Nothing needs to be explained here. I read some of his stories and I did not not like any. It is a huge book (imagine 2 Oxford Learner's Dictionary side by side and increase it's width a little). I would say it is a guilty pleasure, and it is even better that it was a gift from my teacher in Singapore. I asked my mum to bring it back to Indonesia and here it is right now on my lap. Did I mention that I am in love with the TV series? If not, now you know.
Look at that gorgeous format.
That concludes my book haul. Yes, I love me some dystopian and scifi books, hence the ample amount of them in my book haul. I'm hoping to see you guys in a next post in due time! Bye!

In My Mailbox (#1)

In My Mailbox is hosted by The Story Siren. :)

So.. First book haul/in my mailbox ever. Enticing, yeah? :D

1. If I Stay - Gayle Forman

Genre: YA Fiction
Publisher: Dutton Juvenile
Series: If I Stay (Book #1)

The incomplete first page made me pick this book up. The synopsis did not really give out any interesting aspects of the book, but the comments printed on the book bought me. As I watch Book Hauls on Youtube and searched this book up on Goodreads, I found out that this was actually an amazing book and that there is (or will be) a second book to this series. Definitely going to be reading this soon and having a review up for this!

2. The Statistical Probability of Love at First Sight

Genre: YA Romance/Contemporary
Publisher: Poppy
Series: -

I picked this up because I saw people raving about it on Youtube. Plus, I love me a little romantic, light story consisting of.. anything British. ;) Basically it is about a girl who is flying to London for her Dad's wedding. On her flight, she sits a seat from a hot British guy and that was where it all began. My TBR pile is getting really tall.

3. The Maze Runner - James Dashner

Genre: YA SciFi/Dystopia
Publisher: Chicken House
Series: Maze Runner (Book #1)

Again, picked this up due to the countless applaud from Booktubers and BookBloggers. In case you've missed the hype, the book is about a boy who gets sent into the middle of a frantic and terrible maze. He meets other boys there as well, so he's not alone. All of the boys have no idea why they are there, and they search for answers every morning - even if it means risking half-machine, half-animal monsters. Probably going to start reading this book after I finish the Hunger Games trilogy.

4. The Postcard Killers - James Patterson

Genre: Mystery/Thriller/Suspense
Publisher: Grand Central Publishing
Series: -

Truthfully, the cover was mainly why I decided to get this book. The texture of the cover is so.. suave and the print on it is just gorgeous. You can never go wrong with the Eiffel Tower. This book is about a detective who goes to Europe for leisure. Until deaths start tallying up and their connection is a postcard to the local newspaper preceding each new victim. This detective teams up with another detective - who had just received a postcard in Stockholm - and they think they know where the next victims will be.

5. THE FAULT IN OUR STARS - JOHN GREEN

Genre: YA Romance/Contemporary/AWESOMENESS.
Publisher: Dutton Juvenile
Series: -

I don't think anything needs to be said here. It arrived on Thursday. I squealed terribly. This will be the next book I read. I STILL CAN'T BELIEVE I HAVE A COPY OF THE FIRST BATCH OF TFIOS. AH. I have not read any of John's books yet, but EVERYONE's excitement got to me. Hence, the grin on my face as I type this.

And look!

A purple J scribble :D

That is all for my book haul. I hope you enjoyed it!

Hunger Games Update

Anyone as excited as I am for the movie? 2 more months! I cannot wait. Currently reading Catching Fire and loving it so far. The bright side is that I found something to tone down my excitement and that is by watching 100 days of Hunger Games on celebuzz's Youtube. Still, it wasn't enough. Anyway, if you've been keeping up with updates of the movie, you would know that Taylor Swift has a song in the Hunger Games soundtrack and that is Safe & Sound. Now, her version is fine, but i've found a cover that sounds better than the original version. Megan Nicole & Tiffany Alvord (both Youtube singers) did a cover of Safe & Sound and I absolutely fell in love with it. All my classmates are on the same page and this is our go-to song. This song has been playing in my head everytime I need to calm down or whenever I think/am reminded of the Hunger Games. I hope they play this song when Rue dies.

TFIOS!

I have decided to try a John Green book. Yes yes, I have not read any of his books, but the reviews on youtube and blogger convinced me enough for me to order it online. I was lucky enough to find a website in my country that sold The Fault in Our Stars (hardback, fingers crossed that it's a signed copy) and once I found it, I bought it without any hesitation. Too bad I would need to wait 10 days (or more) for it to come though. Reason being the book will be shipped from the US. Doesn't matter, $16 (inclusive shipping) ain't bad for a hardcover book. Will make sure to do a review of TFIOS when I finish reading eat and will update my twitter when I receive my book. Oh! Yeah, I have a twitter. Also expect reviews to come up! :)

Greetings.

HELLO PEOPLE ON THE INTERNET! I am Nicole, am currently in high school and I live in Indonesia. I am starting this book blog to share my thoughts and love of books to everyone who loves them as much as I do. I started reading ever since my mom "passed down" her Harry Potter series to me, and since then, my collection of books have started flourishing. I just want this to be fun, because books are my escapes. Everytime I sit and read a good book, I feel warm and happy inside, and I rarely get those feelings from elsewhere. So I am just going to stop here. Also, English books are quite hard to find here (not to mention super pricey), so I would sometimes read them off the web instead. That would be all for this post then, goodbye!
